What is a Juried Artist? Receipt of the "Juried" designation is designed to communicate to presenters, exhibitors, educational institutions, social service organizations that you are an outstanding professional artist with solid experience in a variety of traditional and/or non-traditional settings. In the past, the Council had a separate Juried Artist application process. The Juried term lasted for six years, and required artists to re-apply for Juried status at the end of their term.
Beginning in 2008, we revised our Juried artist policy. Currently, only Teaching Artists have a separate Juried Artist application process. Our new policy is described as follows:
- Creation Grant recipients: Upon receipt of a Creation Grant, artists now automatically receive the "Juried" designation to reflect the positive evaluation they received during the grant panel review process.

- Juried Teaching Artists: Teaching artists have a separate juried application process, which is currently in development and will be announced in Fall 2008.
